While we obviously pride ourselves for being able to bring nationally-renowned stars to the Cape Cod Melody Tent and South Shore Music Circus, it makes us especially happy when our acts have local connections. This summer is no different, with artists performing at both theaters week after week with Massachusetts ties. Some grew up here, some attended college here, one even recorded a platinum-selling album here! While the Bay State origins of our amazing performers at Local Music Heroes (July 21 at the Cape Cod Melody Tent) may be obvious,
Kenny G is not only the most popular instrumental musician alive today, but is one of the best-selling artists of all time. With over 75 million records sold around the world (and an equally legendary hairdo), he has definitely become an iconic cultural figure.
But over the past few years, Kenny G has added another title to his unprecedented career: Twitter Sensation. Before you see Mr.
Michael McDonald, a popular singer in the 70’s and 80’s, has been enlisted to by Thundercat for a new single called “Show You The Way.” Thundercat is a singer-bassist who is known for crossing many musical genres. He has played in punk band Suicidal Tendencies, and also released his own funk/fusion inspired solo albums. The first song off Thundercat’s new album Drunk, due out in February features both Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins.
What a great start to Summer 2017! Hunter Hayes kicked off the South Shore Music Circus’ season with a fantastic show on Saturday night. In 1916 Herb Abramson, producer, songwriter and co-founder of Atlantic records was born. He produced Tommy Tucker’s 1964 hit ‘High Heeled Sneakers.’ He died on 9th November 1999.

Brad Martin is a long-time friend of the Music Circus and Melody Tent. If you’ve ever called after hours and listened to our show listing, if you’ve ever heard a Melody Tent ad on any of the Cape’s iHeart radio stations, you’ve heard Brad’s voice. Brad has been the voice of the Melody Tent for more than 15 years. He also hosts the afternoon show on Cool-102.
Brad has fought the good fight against ALS for nearly 4 years.
