January 16th is a big day in music history. It is the day when Bono and Jimmy Buffett were almost shot out of the sky by Jamaican authorities. It is also the day of Wayne Newton’s 25,000th Las Vegas show, but most notably it is the day where in 1965, Beatles manager Brian Epstein was quoted as saying “I give the Beatles two or three more years at the top.”

Summer is coming to an end, the kids are going back to school, and the South Shore Music Circus has another great year on the books. With over twenty shows, the months of July and August saw a lot of excitement under the tent. 2014 at the Music Circus brought the return of some of our favorite artists like Martina McBride and Straight No Chaser, while also welcoming new acts like Little Big Town and Lee Brice.
How does one balance recording new albums, going on tour and a family of 9? Country star Sara Evans is well rehearsed when it comes to balance. With a blended family of 7 children, Evans and her husband Jay Barker have some experience when it comes to priorities, responsibilities and keeping the peace at home. She told People Magazine that many people expect their household to be chaotic, but Evans said that in fact,
On Thursday night the 21st, the South Shore Music Circus is starting a new tradition: the Irish Rock Music Festival. With a lineup of world-renowned musicians, Irish dancing, and of course, award-winning Irish food, like Saw Doctors shows of years past, the festival is expected to be a night of excitement.
Opening the festival are two high-energy, Celtic bands taking their cue from bands like the Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly or the Young Dubliners.
One of the most talked about shows of the summer was the Jennifer Nettles: That Girl Tour 2014. She brought her talented country vocals to both Cohasset and Cape Cod where her sold out performances were memorable and she described the crowd as “On FY-YA.” It was hard to sit still as the award winning artists rocked the tent with her performance of songs like His Hands and That Girl.
Lee Brice is known for his vocal talent, but not for his dancing. As a four-time Academy of Country Music nominee, there is no doubt that Brice can sing, but he tells Rolling Stone that he is “a terrible dancer.” So what does it take to get this country star moving? His wife.
Brice’s hit single “I Don’t Dance,” was written for his bride, Sara, and was originally only intended to play during their wedding.
Summer 2014 is all about comebacks for country music star Trace Adkins who kicked off his tour in the beginning of June. It was during his stop at Dixie Landin’ in Baton Rouge, Louisiana that Adkins was surprised with the official statement of his induction into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. Adkins was expecting to play a regular show, but was joined on stage by Louisiana Music Hall of Fame President Mike Shepherd, who honored the musician with a plaque.
